Somerset district Super Six will merge with the Developing Player Program in a season long pilot for 2013-14.

The Developing Player Program (DPP) is an evolution of the existing School of Rugby and has been developed following a review and game wide consultation.

30 players will selected to each Super Six squad and will attend three training session within their districts, run by Somerset RFU appointed coaches. These sessions will follow the syllabus formulated by the CB in conjunction with the DPP manager and Bath Rugby.

They (the players) will then, regardless of further selection, be invited to a further DPP session (age grade specific dates to follow). In short if you are in the 30 players selected for your district, then you become part of the DPP.

This is just one of the changes put in place to further enhance the representative age grade experience throughout the county.

******DPP Update February 2014******

Following consoltation with the RFU and other parties the decision has been made to hold one or two 'OPEN' development days during the close season.

'OPEN' means that provided you are in the correct age bracket (U13/U14/U15) you can just turn up to attend the coaching days. There is now no barrier to the coaching available as previously stated above.

The focus will be on fundamental skills and will be coached by our counties many age grade and senior coaches.

Further details and dates will be emailed our to clubs and posted on this site when they have been finalised.
